Clinical Bone Marrow Scanning with Radioisotopes.

چکیده
investigators have studied this problem. The autopsy studies of Custer2’3 and Hashimoto4 are directed largely toward efforts to establish the size of the “normal” marrow organ. Shillingford,5 in autopsy studies of patients in heart failure, demonstrated grossly visible expansion of red marrow in long bones. Kramer and Wynne6 made external counts of radioactivity along the extremities after tracer doses of F&” and prepared diagrams illustrating the apparent distribution of erythropoietic marrow. Our initial work on this problem has used colloidal radioisotopes. When administered intravenously, these are rapidly removed from the blood stream by the reticuloendothelial cells. In the marrow, reticuloendothelial activity correlates closely with hematopoietic activity. Engstedt et al.7 used this property to show gross changes of the distribution of the marrow; for example, in polycythemia vera and aplastic anemia. With the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Research Scanner,8’#{176} we have made further studies of the distribution of the hematopoietic marrow. It is hoped now by the use of this and future developments marrow distribution can be measured with considerable detail.

Assessment of radiation dose distribution of different radioisotopes used to treatment of bone metastasis and pain relief patients in a bone model of foot
Introduction: Although there are several ways to relief pain in metastatic patients, the use of radionuclides is one of the known and effective ways to relieve the pain caused by bone metastases. The purpose of this study was to assessment of radiation dose distribution of different radioisotopes used to treatment and pain relief patients in a bone-based model based on Monte C...

Radionuclide bone scanning is the second most frequently performed radionuclide study in childhood. There are a wide variety of indications, many advantages, and few disadvantages. Functional as well as anatomical information is obtained.' Bone scanning is particularly valuable in the diagnosis of inflammatory conditions, trauma, and in the investigation of occult bone pain and vascular insult'...

Knee osteoarthritis (OA) affects the joint beyond just the articular cartilage. Specifically, magnetic resonance imagingidentifiedbone marrow lesions (BML) in the subchondral bone have both clinical and pathophysiological significance.Compared to joint space narrowing on traditional radiographs, the presence of BMLs has been better correlated withseverity of clinical symptoms ...
متن کاملClinical Medicine - Contd . RADIATION AND THE STRUCTURE OF BONE
Whenever the body is irradiated, for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes, a considerable amount of bone and bone marrow is inevitably included in the field of the radiation beam. Furthermore, many of the radioisotopes used clinically become incorporated in bone, sometimes to a high degree. The physical consideration of this irradiation of bone is complex because (a) the increased radiation absor...
